the Myers

The Myers serve the Lord with FEBC on the small island of Saipan, near Guam. Steve is the maintenance supervisor on FEBC's Saipan missions compound, the international shortwave station KFBS. He is responsible for general maintenance and repairs on the complex of missionary buildings, grounds, and homes on the 13 acre compound, as well as vehicles. In addition to working as a homemaker, Sheila home schools their 3 sons and ministers to people on Saipan as time allows.

Overcoming Hardship

In 1997, during their deputation work with FEBC, the Myers were in a serious auto accident. The boys received minor injuries. However, Steve and Sheila were both seriously injured. Sheila is now physically handicapped from injuries she sustained in this accident. Following Steve's full recovery from the accident, he was seconded to Tech Serve International mission from August 1999 to December 2000, where he served as their warehouse manager. During that time, Sheila had reconstructive, orthopedic surgeries and physical therapy following their auto accident.

Moving to Saipan

In January 2001, the Myers family moved to Saipan to begin their current assignment with FEBC. Their family enjoys the out-of-doors, reading, crafts, animals, building things out of wood, and ministering to people for the Lord. One of Steve and Sheila's life verses is Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

They were, and still are, deeply motivated to serve the Lord by Dr. Ian Hay. His philosophy was "Christians need to be planning to go yet willing to stay, not willing to go yet planning to stay."
