A Heart Released from Hatred

GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS, often using other people to soften a calloused heart.

Recently a churchgoer in a small country town hurried off to Sunday service, unaware of God’s hand upon her.

At the pulpit that day was an FEBC staff member. His talk focused on the large number of Vietnamese turning to the Lord. He also showed a video clip of Vietnamese pastors leading young factory workers to Christ. A couple of days later, the staff member received this e-mail from the woman in the pew:

"I'd like to thank you for your message on Sunday. It's amazing how God used you to talk to me when I least expected it.

"I had a brother who died in the Vietnam War, a brother I still mourn. I miss him every day and still love and respect his service to our country.

"I'm certain that our freedom isn't free, because it cost my brother his life. It also affected my entire family by losing a loved one in a war that couldn't be won.

"I tell you this because I wasn’t aware of the hatred I harbored for the Vietnamese people until Sunday morning. When you talked about the people from Vietnam who had come to Christ and you showed us faces of pastors who love the same Jesus I love, my heart melted.

"I asked God to forgive the hatred I felt all these years, and He has forgiven me. What a weight has been lifted from my soul! I now have a new love for all people.

"I pray that God will continue to bless the work being done in Vietnam, and that many of the people I considered evil will come to know our Savior. I want to spend eternity with them and Jesus.

"Thank you for all that you do. Keep it up; you never know when you’ll say something that transforms the heart of the person sitting beside you. Your words certainly changed my perspective!"

John 15:17: This is my command; love one another.
