MR. PHUOC, AN ARCHITECT in Vietnam who specializes in designing churches, is also a friend of FEBC-Vietnam. He shares his love of the Lord wherever he goes. During his travels around Vietnam, he interviews many people who listen to FEBC broadcasts. Here are just a few of those stories:
Recording the Programs Several years ago Mr. Minh, an elderly man in his 80s, turned to his radio for spiritual growth because trouble in his church prevented him from attending.
During that time he listened to and recorded over 70 cassette tapes from FEBC broadcasts, to distribute to his children and grandchildren. When Mr. Phuoc met Mr. Minh for the first time, he asked him if he ever listened to FEBC. “I cannot live without FEBC radio!” Mr. Minh exclaimed. “Over the years, I’ve used up three radios listening to these programs.”
Saving for a Radio
Mr. Liem was once so poor he couldn’t afford to buy a tube of toothpaste! When the owner of the fruit garden where Mr. Liem worked saw the poor man’s need, he gave him money and told him to purchase toiletries for himself.
Several days later Mr Liem’s boss noticed he still hadn’t bought any toothpaste. “Why didn’t you use the money I gave you,” he asked.
“I appreciate your generosity,” Mr. Liem explained, “but I’m saving it to buy a radio. Whenever I can, I set aside money to buy a radio for myself one day; that's why I haven’t bought anything for my other needs. I love listening to a program called Nguon Song, especially since there’s no church nearby. FEBC radio helps me learn more about God.”
Mr. Liem is now in a better place financially and continues to enjoy listening to his beloved Nguon Song program daily.
Sharing the Broadcasts Mr. Duc makes his living selling sandwiches and pastries from a cart. Though his cart is full, he always finds room to balance his radio on top, where he keeps it tuned to FEBC.
He makes sure to have it turned up, so his customers can hear about God. Mr. Duc also hands out tracts to anyone who shows interest in the Christian faith. When people ask him about his radio or the Christian calendar posted on his cart, he tells them about Jesus.
Mr. Duc can be seen on the streets of his city 4 days a week, selling sandwiches to his customers, but the other 3 days he commits to the Lord: one to visit people, one for church, and one to study the Bible. In spite of working less days than most people, he’s never short of money.
