CHRISTIAN BROADCASTING IS POWERFUL! Millions of people throughout China have learned about Jesus through the radio, and their lives have been transformed! But sometimes there’s nothing like a face-to-face connection with people who need basic necessities like food, medical attention, running water, and a roof over their heads. Others need encouragement and discipleship. Many FEBC staff personally participate in outreach programs such as installing water systems, giving away portable radios, and sharing the gospel with unbelievers. Other staff invest a great deal of time corresponding with listeners… answering their questions, mailing out Bible study material, and offering insight on the Christian faith. Some visit listeners in order to update their understanding of China and to discover the needs of those who are tuning into the broadcasts. Listen to the words of an FEBC staff member from Hong Kong who left her desk to venture out into the field:
I recently had an opportunity to visit our listeners. Although the trip was tiring, I was energized and filled with grace. Throughout the visits I had good fellowship and conversations with listeners. I even met an 80-year-old couple who are students of the Voice of Friendship Seminary! How could I not be overjoyed to preach the gospel and discuss the Christian faith with my kinsmen? When I returned from my trip, faces of those I met came to mind and I recalled the wonderful times we shared together. Feeling more closely tied to those who listen to our broadcasts, I pray that I may effectively minister to them through my words. Please continue to remember the follow-up work of the FEBC radio ministry. The Chinese churches are threatened by a number of dangerous cults. They are in desperate need of solid Bible teaching so they may stand firm. I pray that God may use me as a timely aid. As the Holy Spirit continues its transforming work throughout China, FEBC staff are there to encourage the faithful and lead the lost to the Lord. It’s a prime example of the “ground troops” working side by side with the “air force” to bring the Good News of Christ to the people of China. |
