Friday - 1
Praise God for FEBCambodia's recent 6th anniversary
of broadcasting. Director Samoeun Intal said: "Research
indicates that radio is generally perceived as trustworthy,
so people who hear a message over the airwaves are
likely to act on what they hear. We estimate the 80% of
people in this country are able to listen to radio...one
pastor told us that farmers in his village take their radios
into the fields."
Saturday - 2
Praise God for sending FEBCambodia a Music
Coordinator--an answer to prayer! Pagnan, a gifted
musician, was formerly a church evangelist when he was
asked to join the FEBC team. He decided, "If I can make
music and put a message about God inside it, that is
wonderful!" Pray for wisdom and guidance as Pagnan
writes and selects music; for help with his on-air work;
and for health for he and his family.
Sunday - 3
FEBCambodia requests prayer for the impact of inflation
on the ministry: the cost of operating generators recently
escalated from $3000 to over $5000 a month in just four
months. They write, "Pray that the Lord will provide for
our needs." Also pray for new opportunities for Family
FM to partner with other groups.
Monday - 4
Praise God for sending volunteers with specific talents
and expertise at critical times to help with maintaining
transmissions from Saipan. In May, two men from the
states performed a complete inspection of Saipan's
towers, and then stayed an extra week to replace crucial
parts that had decayed in the harsh salt-water environment.
Praise God for their help, and that the repairs were
completed in 4 days--only 3 nights of broadcasts to
Russia were missed!
Tuesday - 5
Thank God for David Creel's 18 years of service as Chief
Engineer with FEBC-Saipan. He is now moving into
another area of service, which means that Dean Brubaker
will be the only full-time engineer for the transmitters
and computer systems. Pray for Dean, and for Bob
Springer, also an engineer and tower rigger, now that they
are short-staffed. Also pray that God will continue to
lead the right people to meet Saipan's needs.
Wednesday - 6
"I know thousands of people need to be saved...they
must know who God is! We believe it is very important
to have our own language on the air. Sometimes when
we try to tell others about God we can't clearly explain
the Bible to them. We tell them to please turn on the
radio and listen to FEBC so they can understand better.
Your programs help people to know God's Word--even
non-Christians." - Praise from a Hmong listener in Laos
Thursday - 7
"Thank God that you serve the most high God--you're
very important to us! We are saved from the darkness
and have peace because FEBC broadcasts the Good
News to us...it is very special to the Hmong in
Vietnam."
Friday - 8
As the Olympics begin today in Beijing, please pray for
FEBC's Chinese broadcasters who will be covering the
events on location. Coverage will include interviews
with local people, and live segments will be incorporated
into several Mandarin programs, such as Never
Mediocre. Please pray for discernment and safety for
the team there.
Saturday - 9
Praise God for missionary Bob Bartz, who serves in
South Africa as Feba's broadcast technology director.
Bob is setting up a training center, where he can equip
ministry personnel to solve technical issues in their
field of service. Pray for him and for development
engineer Graham Kimber, who is also involved in this
new venture.
Sunday - 10
Please continue to pray for Barbara Bartz, and especially
for her family in the states. Barb's mom has undergone
treatment for thyroid cancer since last spring, when
her father was also hospitalized twice in one month for
health problems. Please pray for strength and healing,
and that God will give their entire family a sense of His
peace and very present help.
Monday - 11
We thank God for Chris and Joyce Slabaugh, who
recently completed 5 months of service with FEBCMongolia
as WIND-FM celebrated their 7th anniversary
and dedicated their newly completed facilities. They
write: "All of the equipment and this entire building
project is a result of many prayers, finances and people
from around the world working together...this has
been a true example of the children of God using their
gifts to further His Kingdom work." Pray that God will
abundantly supply the necessary resources as He opens
new doors for the Slabaughs.
Tuesday - 12
Praise from the Slabaughs in Mongolia: "The dedication and
7th anniversary celebrations went very well, with guests
attending from at least 15 countries, including FEBC
representatives from the Philippines, Singapore, United
States, Australia, Canada, Finland and Indonesia. It was
a time to praise God for what He has done, and trust
Him for what lies ahead for WIND-FM." Pray for the
team and future ministry of FEBC-Mongolia.
Wednesday - 13
Sheila is manager of Feba's Baraka FM in
Mombasa, Kenya. Pray for Sheila as she utilizes
research from an extensive radio survey to plan for
the future of the station. Pray also for the station's
efforts to promote peace and reconciliation in the
country.
Thursday - 14
Thank the Lord for Narcisco,
Feba's director of programming and research in
Mozambique. Pray for God's wisdom and strength as
he fulfills his many ministry responsibilities---as well
as pastoral duties in a local church.
Friday - 15
Pray for Jerry, Feba's Middle East
Development Director as he and his team assess the
best means to broadcast the gospel to Yemeni listeners.
While shortwave radio is vital in rural areas, satellite
television and the Internet are popular in cities. Ask
God to give His direction and wisdom in analyzing
data and forming conclusions.
Saturday - 16
From a listener in the Middle East: " You are the
candle that lights my dark path, so please stay with
me for I'll need your advice." Continue to pray for
fellow believers in this region of the world who are confronted
regularly with the forces of darkness!
Sunday - 17
Praise God for the wonderful 50th anniversary banquet
recently held by FEBC-Hong Kong! During the
celebration, Chinese Ministries received two special
awards: the Bronze Award for both Best Program
Production and Best Produced Special Program.
Each of FEBC's 6 Chinese programming studios
submitted entries for this competition, and a panel of
outside experts selected the winners.
Monday - 18
Please ask God to bless this fall's scheduled merger
of FEBC's Chinese Ministries with the US headquarters
in La Mirada. This move will involve upgrading of
the existing production studios as well as significant
shifts of personnel to accommodate CM's staff members.
We are excited about this merger and anticipate
new friendships as we work together to serve the
Kingdom of God.
Tuesday - 19
FEBC-Philippines praises God for 60 years of bringing
Christ to the World by Radio. This milestone was
celebrated June 7 during a whole-day affair held at the
FEBC compound in Manila and attended by former
and current FEBC staff---and more than 4,000
listeners!
Wednesday - 20
Please pray for FEBC-Philippines' programming
team...more than 700 programs are aired each week!
Pray especially for those who supply programs; ask
God to sustain and inspire them. Also pray that the
programs will continue to be reliably and consistently
delivered on time.
Thursday - 21
Today is our monthly Day of Prayer. Please pray for
the leadership and staff of Feba, our sister organization
in the United Kingdom, who minister primarily in
Africa, India, and the Middle East.
Friday - 22
FEBC-Philippines' missionaries Mar and Cecil Amog
ask that we pray for their furlough this month. Pray
for their time with family, and for safe travels and
productivity as they visit different churches and
partners. They also ask that we "pray for continuous
provision from the Lord" as the cost of fuel and other
expenses are on the rise.
Saturday - 23
The Amog's request prayer for FEBC-Philippines'
DWAS station in Legaspi City. They write: "Due to
cost-cutting measures, our broadcast hours have been
indefinitely cut from 11.5 programming hours a day
to just 6 hours...there have been salary reductions for
our local staff due to reduced working hours." Please
ask God to provide the necessary resources so that the
station can return to full broadcasting hours.
Sunday - 24
FEBC/Feba's radio programs are often "uploaded"
via the Internet to the broadcast facility for airing.
However, in those countries where the Internet is not
available postal service is the only means for program
delivery. Please pray for the safe and timely arrival of
programs for broadcast.
Monday - 25
FEBC-Jeju's station HLAZ in Korea received this
praise from a listener in Japan: "I thank you for your
programs every night. I wrote to you about my
emptiness, asking why I was created and how I could
believe in God. Believe it or not, I was baptized three
days ago---I am now a Christian!"
Tuesday - 26
FEBC-Yeongdong (Korea) will be celebrating its 7th
anniversary tomorrow. Pray that God will bless the
event's Prayer Breakfast, Thanksgiving Service, and
Concert, and that He will continue to use the station's
broadcasts to the country's northeast region to bring
the gospel of hope to listeners.
Wednesday - 27
From the director of FEBC-Thailand: "Pray for our
staff, who serve others through radio broadcasts and
follow-up work. Pray also for our listeners--to trust
God, and walk their days with Him."
Thursday - 28
Pastor Ai, Director of FEBC's Vietnamese Ministries,
writes; "Pray that we will be able to provide more
Christian books and literature for our listeners. These
materials will help believers grow spiritually, and will
be useful in witnessing."
Friday - 29
Pray for FEBC's Russian Ministries' team as they
produce a series of weekly programs to reach the
almost 1 million people who live in the Buryat
Republic. Director Rudi Wiens says, "There are
less than 1% of evangelical Christians living in the
country...the need for the light of Christ in Buryat
Republic is great. The clash of spiritual forces is
real." Pray also that God will supply the resources
needed to produce and broadcast these programs,
which will be aired from Saipan and also distributed
on CD and the Internet.
Saturday - 30
Pray for Irina, broadcaster who grew up in
Russia's Buryat Republic, which is located north of
Mongolia. Reaching young people is the passion of
Irina's heart. "We are trying to bring the message of
victorious love into their environment. I know that if
we connect with them through radio, we'll be able to
touch them with the love of Jesus...it is so tormenting
to be young yet have no hope or purpose."
Sunday - 31
"I've been suffering from depression for more than
a year. I never thought I was prone to suffer from
it and I was surprised when FEBC became the way
out of my hopelessness...I feel that the power of God
you talk about is real, and it is healing me. I want to
follow Jesus and live a healthy, fulfilling life. I still
have many problems and need your prayers." - A
listener in Siberia.
