Thursday - 1
China has 55 ethnic minority groups scattered over
different provinces and in remote mountain areas. Most of these
groups have never heard the gospel; praise God that 19 years ago
FEBC's Chinese Ministries (CM) began working with other
like-minded partners to bring God's message to neglected groups
in their own dialect. Please pray for these 'minority'
broadcasts; pray for those who produce them and for those who
tune-in.
Friday - 2
Please pray for Love Among Us, one of
several CM programs made for ethnic minority groups which has
been getting very good feedback since going on air. Also pray for
programs that are produced for the Zang (Tibetan), Chuan, Uyghur,
and Hui groups in their respective tongues.
Saturday - 3
"We live on the very edge of Yunnan Province, in an
area for minority groups far away from everything. After a
colleague introduced me to Love Among Us in the Yunnan
language, my heart was full of thanks. I believe the gospel will
now finally be able to spread all over Yunnan." - Praise from
listener in China
Sunday - 4
Praise God that now, through the new technology,
Internet-streaming media, CM can share the gospel with ethnic
Chinese around the world 24 hours a day! Pray for this new
endeavor, which is a combination of mobile phone communication,
Internet, and radio and television. Ask God to use it to bring
the "Living Water from the throne of God to the hearts of
men."
Monday - 5
Please pray for the International Center for Media
Studies' symposium that will be held today and tomorrow in Grand
Rapids, Michigan. Ask God to bless the program, which is designed
to help churches, non-profits and foundations understand new
technology, and to greatly use it to enhance and expand the
communication of His gospel.
Tuesday - 6
Praise God for FEBCambodia's new phone-in program
called Truth and Science, hosted by Professor Maury
Middleton. The broadcast is a 'first' in technology for Family
FM; Professor Middleton speaks via telephone from Thailand and
his message is then translated into Khmer. Pray for the program's
impact on listeners; the professor discusses science referencing
the Bible, and then explains the gospel and its relevance
today.
Wednesday - 7
Most psychologists agree that the Pol Pot years
have been a significant factor in creating the behavioral
disorders seen at an abnormally high level in Cambodia. One
comments, "Cambodians avoid acknowledging their real feelings,
hiding behind the cultural requirement for politeness. But
underneath the facade there is fear, there is trauma." Pray for
Family FM's new program Highway of Peace, which attempts
to help listeners understand and reverse destructive patterns of
behavior in family life.
Thursday - 8
Thank the Lord for Somaly, FEBCambodia's Audience
Relations Coordinator who is the link between Family FM and its
listeners. Somaly also presents a number of phone-in programs
including Chit Chat, which includes Christian songs and
scripture. She says: "I want to see my nation believe in God and
see the change in their lives through Jesus." Please pray for
Somaly and her audience of both Christians and non-believers.
Friday - 9
Listeners in Japan find it very difficult to follow
Christ… less than 1% of Japan's population is Christian.
One listener recently wrote, "I secretly listen to FEBC in my
room every evening while my parents worship Buddha in the next
room. My heart is split in two. I want to be a faithful son to my
parents, but I also want to commit myself to Jesus." Please pray
for this listener and others who want to know and follow the
Savior but who face painful choices in order to do so.
Saturday - 10
FEBC-Japan is producing an outreach package that
includes a CD of their best broadcasts and a Bible in an effort
to reach the lost and encourage believers who struggle with very
difficult issues. Pray for the effectiveness of these outreach
packages, which will be given to seekers and non-believers as
well as churches; pray also that they will inspire people to tune
in to FEBC broadcasts.
Sunday - 11
Continue to pray for FEBC-Japan's executive
director Keiko Yoshizaki, for assistant executive director Seiji
Suzuki, and for their dedicated staff. Pray especially for Mr.
Maruyama, a chief producer who is responsible for more than half
of all their programs, and for his wife Yukiko, who along with
Ms.Kaori Ito works 3 days a week doing receipting, maintaining
mailing lists, answering donor's requests, etc. Keiko writes:
"Ask God to grant them His joy and wisdom as they serve Him at
FEBC."
Monday - 12
Please pray for Ms. Miho Tateishi, chief editor for
FEBC-Japan's monthly newspaper. She is also director of follow-up
and answers many listeners' letters personally, providing
invaluable spiritual guidance. Miho is also a producer of
Keiko's Mail Bag; ask God to support her in each of these
important responsibilities.
Tuesday - 13
Praise God for providing the opportunity for FEBC
to beam programs into North Korea for over 50 years! Even though
Christianity is officially outlawed and the risk is great,
believers gather in secret locations across North Korea to listen
to programs beamed in from other locations. One writes, "If
someone should ask, where did you hear the gospel? I can say,
through FEBC! When I was alone and hungry for soul food, FEBC
provided…for my spiritual nourishment." Pray that God will
protect and encourage listeners who have dared to put their trust
in Him.
Wednesday - 14
FEBC-Korea requests prayer for these position
changes: Dr. In Kiel Chang, Jeju station manager, has been
assigned back to Seoul, while Mr. Sung-Hwi Kim (Simon), Mokpo
station manager, will move to Jeju to fill Mr. Chang's position.
Pray for a smooth transition in these job changes and moves.
Thursday - 15
Today is our monthly Day of Prayer. Please pray for
FEBC's ministry and programming in Myanmar, Vietnam, and to the
Hmong people group. Both broadcasters and audiences in these
areas are often subject to persecution for their faith; ask God
to protect them and grant them His help and courage in the midst
of very difficult circumstances.
Friday - 16
Please pray for God's wisdom and strength for
FEBC-Korea's new president, General Eun-gi Kim, and for their
chairman, Dr. Billy Kim. Also pray for preparations and a
broadcast license for a new FM station in Daegu, the 4th largest
city in South Korea.
Saturday - 17
Please pray for FEBC-Korea's plans to develop an
auto management system for the Bangsan transmitter site. Pray
that God will guide and bless the engineers involved and that
this project will provide better service for the listeners as
well as a better working environment for the staff.
Sunday - 18
Thank the Lord for Feba's Arabic ministries
followup team, who regularly receive challenging questions from
listeners in the Middle East: "I listen to your programs…
however, I still have many unanswered questions about life and
religion." And, "Isa (Jesus) is a messenger; a created servant of
God, whom he gave signs and wonders to. Please don't make a God
out of Him!" Pray that God will give each team member His wisdom
and sensitivity as they respond to difficult questions and
issues.
Monday - 19
Praise God for this testimony from a Feba listener
in Pakistan: "I wrote to you earlier to tell you of my coming to
faith in Jesus Christ. I am writing to you again, because I'm
hungry for your guidance."
Tuesday - 20
Pray for Feba's Radio School Project in Zimbabwe, a
proposed project partnership between Feba Zimbabwe and the
Ministry of Education. The plan is to develop schooling aid
cassettes, which will follow the ministry's curriculum and will
be distributed to primary schools.
Wednesday - 21
Pray for Feba's Light of Dawn program, which
targets believers in a nomadic people group in eastern Africa.
The broadcast aims to help believers mature as they hear Bible
stories in their local storytelling style. Also pray for their
Way of Wisdom program, which uses chronological Bible
'storying' in a house group setting. Pray that God will use these
unique broadcasts to impact and transform listeners' lives.
Thursday - 22
FEBC-Philippines requests prayer for programmer/
missionary Cecil Amog and her team "as they work on programming
and technical details in preparation for the resumption of DWAS
broadcasts. Pray that the displaced listeners will find their way
back to the station, especially those who are still in search of
the Truth."
Friday - 23
Please pray for God's guidance as FEBC-Philippines'
DXFE team continues to strive to broadcast Spiritempowered
programs; pray that He will lead many more new listeners to tune
in. Also pray for the health of all the staff members and for the
needs of their families.
Saturday - 24
Praise God for blessing DZFE with 55 years of
programming … and for the new Nautel transmitter, which
provides a much-improved radio signal for listeners in the Metro
Manila area. The station currently broadcasts 18 hours/day, 6
days/week; plans are underway to begin a daily broadcast schedule
by next year.
Sunday - 25
FEBC's support office in New Zealand requests
prayer as they "seek to find ways to serve people and communities
both at the local as well as international level." Pray for
guidance as they seek God's will and plan new directions for the
Voice of Friendship ministry. Pray that as a board they will seek
God's help in fulfilling the governance and leadership roles
within the organization.
Monday - 26
Pray for FEBC's Thai language programs, which are
currently on 39 AM/FM and community radio stations throughout the
country. The programs are aired for one hour each day, and most
stations broadcast them for 5 or 7 days/week. Thank God for the
opportunity to be on the air so freely in this predominantly
Buddhist nation.
Tuesday - 27
From the director of FEBC-Thailand: "Staff members
in the Bangkok studios (and our minority-language broadcasters)
value your prayers for them and their families … they
count it a privilege to be remembered in this way."
Wednesday - 28
Praise the Lord for the impact that
FEBC-Indonesia's programs are having in local communities! The
director writes that when he was on an unofficial visit to a
small church "many in the congregation stood up and testified
that their life was kept safe and guided through Heartline FM.
What amazed me was that four people from a Muslim background came
forward and testified that they became Christians after listening
to Heartline programs…"
Thursday - 29
Pray for FEBC-Australia missionaries John and Remy
Tan and daughter Janelle, recently reassigned to the
International Office (IO) after years of service in Manila.
Although based in Singapore, IO staff can be deployed to any of
the Southeast Asian fields for specific projects; John and Remy
are about to transition to Cambodia, where Jon will be developing
the IT roadmap as well as assisting with studio digitalization
and production work. Please ask God to prepare their family for
this next field assignment.
Friday - 30
Pray for Victor Akhterov, program director for FEBC
Russian Ministries as he works with other broadcasters to
minimize the effects of programming cutbacks. He writes, "Please
pray that during these tough times we will be able to present the
gospel with more power and clarity."
Saturday - 31
"Thank you for your wonderful programs, which are
hope and light for my soul! Whenever I'm sad or worried about
something, I turn on the radio and listen to your broadcasts-they
always give me comfort and encouragement, and I praise God for
that." - Praise from listener in Russia
